Start with a comparable opponent and rule set
Recent records do not automatically transfer between promotions, weight classes or disciplines. Identify the current opponent, announced distance and rules before using a past performance as evidence.
An athlete returning after inactivity may have limited current information. Treat that as uncertainty rather than filling the gap with a confident story.
Distinguish an appealing story from a probability
A price of 4.00 has an inverse price of 25% before margin. Calling it value would require a defensible estimate that accounts for uncertainty and the exact settlement contract. The larger possible return alone is insufficient.
Avoid choosing only the past fights that support the desired outcome. Opponent quality, changing roles and small samples can make a striking statistic less informative than it first appears.
Do not combine incompatible markets
A fighter-to-win selection differs from a knockout, submission or decision selection. A method market can have a much larger quote because it imposes another condition.
Also check changed opponents, distance, draws and no contests. The market’s wording determines how those possibilities affect the bet, even when the sporting story sounds unchanged.
Keep the cost of uncertainty bounded
Several underdog selections on one card can all lose. Do not size a budget around the assumption that one large return will cover the rest. Include parlays and promotional stakes in the same accounting.
If the evidence is too limited to compare, leave the question open. Our dated calendar helps identify records; it does not generate winning tips or turn missing information into a recommended wager.
